As a primary contact for Safeway customers, the Frozen Food Manager provides friendly, courteous, and helpful service. They train, supervise, schedule, and assign duties to Frozen Food Clerks. This role is responsible for maintaining appropriate stock and inventory in the frozen food area, minimizing out-of-stock product, and writing frozen food orders. The manager also ensures product rotation, removes expired stock daily, keeps frozen food cases stocked, cleans the department area, and restocks items in the freezer for other departments. Responsibilities include unloading received goods, stocking shelves, breaking down cardboard boxes for the bailer, checking and filling the ice machine, restocking end displays, and cleaning spills. In the event of a freezer malfunction or power outage, the employee will manage the removal of items, cleaning, and restocking. The role may also involve functioning as a cashier/checker during peak times.
