Front-End Software Engineer

Bask Health•New York, NY
•$20,000 - $80,000

About The Position

Bask Health is seeking an entrepreneurial, full-stack-minded software engineer to build and design the software infrastructure supporting telehealth. The engineer will work directly with the CEO and CTO and take end-to-end ownership of product experiences, from concept through production, across the interface, API, and database. The platform is a serverless, multi-tenant monorepo built with Next.js, React, tRPC, Prisma, SST, and TypeScript. Engineering at Bask Health is AI-first and builder-led. Engineers use tools such as Claude, Claude Code, and Cursor to investigate problems, plan and build solutions, test on staging with realistic data, release to production, and refine systems based on feedback from patients and care teams. The role includes rapidly prototyping and validating with real users, particularly in sensitive clinical contexts, while building reusable and well-architected patterns for scale. The engineer will help make automation transparent and trustworthy, champion performance, accessibility, and reliability, and share effective AI-native workflows with the team. This is a highly collaborative role in a fast-paced, unstructured startup environment, with a focus on building software that improves healthcare delivery.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience.
  • Full-stack generalist experience, including taking a product from 0 to 1 and applying that experience within a system already serving real patients.
  • Strong frontend development skills with React, TypeScript, Next.js, Tailwind, and JavaScript.
  • Backend skills with tRPC, Drizzle ORM, SQL, Node, and SST.
  • Ability to work independently and own entire projects or large areas of a codebase.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain technical problems, constraints, and timelines.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, unstructured startup environment.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to roll up one's sleeves.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong experience building paid products and services.
  • React Native or Expo experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and ship high-quality product experiences, owning key surfaces from concept through production.
  • Write elegant, well-tested code and help maintain the test suite.
  • Work across the stack, taking features from the interface through the API to the database without team handoffs.
  • Use Cursor and Claude Code as part of an AI-first development workflow to explore implementations, scaffold components, and refactor code, applying judgment to meet healthcare quality standards.
  • Prototype quickly and validate work with real patients and care teams, using feedback to refine solutions, especially in sensitive clinical contexts.
  • Translate product needs into reusable, well-architected patterns that support scale and make future features faster to ship.
  • Build systems that clearly communicate what AI and automation are doing for patients and providers, emphasizing transparency, reliability, and thoughtful defaults.
  • Champion performance, accessibility, and reliability; collaborate with the team to debug, optimize, and improve quality.
  • Document and share effective AI prompts, patterns, and workflows with the team.
  • Communicate technical problems, constraints, and timelines clearly.
