Front End Developer
About The Position
The Front End Developer will help build omnichannel user experiences and the platforms that support the company’s digital presence. Working as part of autonomous, multifunctional teams, the developer will take features from concept through deployment, contribute product-improvement ideas, and develop skills with new technologies and languages. The role is primarily focused on front-end development, with Angular and Node.js, and requires experience with Nx monorepos. The developer should understand Jenkins and CI/CD; an operations team handles those tasks and cloud work. The role is suited to a motivated person comfortable in an iterative, fast-paced environment.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of professional software development experience.
- At least 6 years of professional experience developing publicly available web applications using JavaScript or JavaScript frameworks such as Angular, supported by RESTful web services.
- Verifiable experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js/Express, CSS, and HTML in a large enterprise environment, preferably as part of a web engineering team.
- Experience designing and implementing continuous JavaScript environments using Nx, Webpack, or similar tools.
- Experience with an Nx monorepo.
- Strong JavaScript, TypeScript, CSS, HTML, and browser developer-tools skills.
- Understanding of HTTP-based APIs, networking, and how the internet works.
- Understanding of asynchronous code, including promises, callbacks, and event loops.
- Experience with Angular frameworks, Node.js frameworks, npm, and Express.
- Experience with JavaScript tooling such as ESLint, Webpack, and Nx.
- Experience with DevOps, automated testing, and continuous delivery; tools may include Jenkins or Concourse.
- Experience with containerization, Docker, and orchestration.
- Experience with automation and testing frameworks such as Jest, Cypress, or Playwright.
- Advanced Git skills.
- API design and development and microservices architecture experience.
- Proficiency with visual design and rapid prototyping.
- Expertise with at least one IDE, such as VS Code or WebStorm.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent.
Nice To Haves
- Exposure to native mobile development on iOS and/or Android.
Responsibilities
- Translate business knowledge and divisional initiative visions into business solutions by developing software applications and evaluating alternatives.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for applications or subsystems.
- Participate in iteration planning to maintain team velocity and deliver quality each sprint.
- Analyze business requirements and system development specifications.
- Troubleshoot, tune performance, provide production support, and maintain existing applications.
- Resolve technical roadblocks involving multiple technologies.
- Ensure code reviews, unit testing, and integration testing are completed efficiently.
- Help coordinate delivery of technical components across internal and external technical teams.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor more junior team members.
- Contribute to process-improvement initiatives to improve product-team velocity.
- Build features from concept through deployment and contribute ideas to improve products.
