About The Position

This placement opportunity includes several departments and positions within the Rooms Division, focusing on guest services and front desk operations. The program is designed to provide comprehensive training in various aspects of hotel management, from initial orientation to specialized guest services and housekeeping inspection. The duration of the program is approximately 13 months, with specific durations for each department: Orientation (1 month), Front Desk Agent (4 months), Guest Services Agent (4 months), and Housekeeping Inspector (3.5 months). The goal is to equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the luxury hotel industry.

Requirements

  • Enrollment in a post-secondary ministerially recognized academic institution in the hospitality industry OR
  • A hospitality degree and at least 1 year of recent relevant work experience in the (ultra) luxury hotel industry (outside of the USA) OR
  • 5 years of recent relevant work experience in the (ultra) luxury hotel industry (outside the USA)
  • Shown consistent career growth over the last years
  • Shown serious commitment to your most recent employers

Responsibilities

  • Receive orientation to the company and local community, learning about customers, culture, and business strategies.
  • Learn about payroll schedules and tax withholding.
  • Gain knowledge of local training areas, housing options, apartment complexes, and transportation.
  • Meet key contacts and other employees.
  • Receive computer training on company systems.
  • Learn the front desk computer system, check-in/check-out procedures, and the Preferred Guest Program.
  • Handle cashier responsibilities, including maintaining a house bank and making daily deposits.
  • Learn group arrivals procedures, guest room assignment, and control.
  • Understand walk-over procedures, hourly house counts, sell-out controls, and room key controls.
  • Develop room up-selling techniques and resolve guest concerns.
  • Learn processes for preparing VIP arrivals, assigning amenities, and processing special needs.
  • Contact top clients before arrival and inspect rooms for VIPs/repeat guests.
  • Act as a liaison between guests and operating departments.
  • Maintain and update the hotel guests database.
  • Escort VIPs/repeat guests to their rooms and provide hotel tours.
  • Provide the highest standard of service and handle VIP complaints efficiently.
  • Coordinate teamwork with other departments.
  • Inspect guest rooms and public spaces to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Coordinate daily activities for cleaning guest rooms and public areas.
  • Manage and communicate updates to housekeeping boards.
  • Communicate with supervisors regarding room issues and supply needs.
  • Manage and oversee the daily housekeeping report.
  • Assist Housekeeping Supervisors and Managers with projects.
  • Assist with department inventory control.
  • Communicate with other departments when guest rooms are available for guest arrival.
