About The Position

The Front Desk Receptionist is responsible for greeting and providing a welcoming environment to all patrons at the Trails Park and Recreation District. This role requires effective communication with customers and staff, the ability to work with diverse populations, and maintaining a professional demeanor at all times. The receptionist will handle customer inquiries, process payments, register individuals for classes and programs, and ensure the front desk area is clean and organized. Additionally, they will periodically walk through the facility to enforce rules, report concerns, and assist with opening or closing procedures.

Requirements

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all staff and the general public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Skills to maintain a safe environment and perform quality work.
  • Reliable transportation or a means to make it to work shifts on time.
  • Ability to understand, comprehend, and follow all policies and procedures, as well as verbal and written instructions from management.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a very busy environment.
  • Proficient administrative skills including knowledge and use of computers and software.
  • Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid certification within 90 days after hire date.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  • Previous customer service experience.
  • Previous experience working in a recreation facility setting.

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers and communicate updated information to patrons.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls, respond to questions, and direct calls appropriately.
  • Use Amilia Recreation Software for selling passes and registering for classes/programs.
  • Collect payments for daily admissions, facility passes, registrations, and other services.
  • Balance daily receipts and complete end-of-shift reporting.
  • Promote positive customer relations and staff teamwork.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the front desk area.
  • Periodically walk through the facility, enforce rules and regulations, and report concerns to management.
  • Report cleanliness or equipment malfunction concerns to the Maintenance department.
  • Open or close the facility as appropriate, including locking/unlocking and managing security alarms.
  • Adhere to department standards for dress, appearance, uniform requirements, and personal hygiene.
  • Establish and maintain a working environment conducive to positive morale, individual style, quality, creativity, and teamwork.
  • Maintain a positive and friendly attitude, even in stressful or controversial situations.
  • Follow all Trails Park and Recreation District policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
