About The Position

The Litigation Support Team at Leidos, supporting the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) in Los Angeles, CA, has an opening for a Front Desk/Receptionist (Clerical) to work in a downtown Los Angeles, CA DOJ office. This role involves performing clerical and receptionist duties within a fast-paced environment focused on providing innovative, defensible, and efficient solutions using technology. The team offers a high level of autonomy and exposure within the Leidos organization, emphasizing a customer-driven approach to deliver the best professional experience. Overtime and travel may be required as needed with proper authorization. The individual may support any division or section within the DOJ depending on the needs at the time of hire.

Requirements

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to perform detailed work consistently, accurately, and under pressure.
  • Ability to read and follow instructions.
  • Ability to understand task, task objectives, and the context of the task in the litigation support effort as a whole.
  • Ability to take the initiative to ask questions when necessary to complete tasks correctly.
  • Typing/keyboarding skills.
  • Knowledgeable user of the Government's office and network environment, including word processing, database, spreadsheet, imaging, and telecommunications systems.
  • Ability to answer a multi-line phone system.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Receives telephone calls and visitors to the office, controlling access and ensuring proper clearance for entry.
  • Notifies staff members of visitors or incoming telephone calls, taking and relaying messages.
  • Handles citizen complaints over the telephone and in person, directing individuals to the proper agency and providing complaint forms.
  • Responds to inquiries, providing general information about office programs and advising callers/visitors on contacting appropriate Federal, State, or local agencies for matters outside the USAO's purview, furnishing necessary contact information.
  • Receives legal documents (e.g., Civil Rights complaints) and notifies the appropriate person of receipt.
  • Organizes and maintains necessary forms or other documents in binders in a prescribed manner.
  • Maintains an up-to-date telephone listing and files of addresses for departments and agencies, as well as necessary telephone directories.
  • Reserves conference rooms upon request.
  • Receives, reviews, and distributes incoming mail, including interoffice mail and service of process, checking and annotating mail accordingly.
  • Immediately notifies appropriate staff members of hand-delivered incoming mail, FedEx, UPS deliveries, and FAXs, and places them in the appropriate internal mailbox.
  • Receives requests for office supplies from co-located personnel and submits interoffice orders for replenishment.
  • Receives reports of malfunctioning equipment and notifies the appropriate point-of-contact, following up to ensure repair.
  • Indexes files and maintains them in an orderly fashion.
  • Files documents with the Clerk’s Office and delivers courtesy copies, making necessary changes to documents if they are incorrect to complete filing.
  • Provides courier services from the USAO to courthouses and state and federal agencies for filing and/or delivering legal documents.
  • Works in an office setting, requiring some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of small office items.
  • Works overtime as needed, depending on work and caseload, with prior approval.
  • Performs Document Management Technician duties as defined by the contract.

Benefits

  • Pay for this position will be $18.52/hr.
