The Front Desk Agent is responsible for registering and assigning rooms to guests, issuing room keys and directions, and managing incoming mail and messages. This role involves transmitting and receiving messages, answering guest inquiries about hotel services, registration, and local attractions, and maintaining records of room availability and rates. The agent will also compute bills, collect payments, make change, and handle reservations and cancellations. Additional duties include posting charges if the interface is inoperable, making reservation and transportation arrangements for guests, and depositing guest valuables in the hotel safe deposit box. A comprehensive knowledge of all hotel departments and functions is required, along with good mathematical and computer skills.
