About The Position

The Freight Crew associate supports store operations by assisting customers, maintaining merchandise availability, and working with the team to meet store and company goals. The role requires availability to start work as early as 3:00 AM and a flexible schedule that may include day, evening, weekend, and overnight shifts, as well as travel when required. The position is part-time and seasonal.

Requirements

• At least 16 years old.
• Available to work a flexible schedule, including shifts starting as early as 3:00 AM and potentially days, evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts.
• Comfortable using, or willing to learn, technology such as computers, cash registers, handheld devices, and mobile devices.
• Good communication skills and the ability to engage with customers.
• Able to handle customer interactions and potential concerns courteously and professionally.
• Able to use basic information-gathering skills to solve problems.
• Able to learn procedural knowledge through on-the-job training.
• Able to frequently move merchandise weighing up to 25 pounds and place or remove merchandise at heights of 5–10 feet.
• Able to frequently climb and descend ladders, kneel, bend, twist, stoop, and move around the sales floor and stock room.
• Able to remain in a stationary, upright position for 80% of the time.
• Able to identify and understand email and printed instructions about merchandise layouts, associate schedules, and standard operating procedures.
• Able to exchange accurate information with customers, managers, and coworkers in person and by telephone.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers promptly and assist multiple customers efficiently.
• Assess customer needs by sharing product knowledge, answering questions, directing customers to merchandise, and making recommendations.
• Use suggestive selling and stay informed about product availability.
• Inform customers about store events, promotions, and special activities.
• Address customer concerns and offer alternative solutions, seeking to turn returns into exchanges when possible.
• Communicate merchandise restocking and service needs, along with customer feedback, to management.
• Collaborate with the team to achieve store and company objectives and contribute to a positive, productive work environment.
• Retrieve, put away, and move merchandise, including using ladders and working in the stock room and sales floor.
