About The Position

The Freezer/Cooler/Deli associate supports the availability and quality of fresh food products for Sam’s Club members. The role involves stocking and maintaining merchandise in freezer, cooler, and deli areas, preserving sanitary conditions and temperature control, and providing customer service to members in the deli and sales area. Associates handle merchandise and displays, follow food-handling and cold-chain procedures, operate and sanitize equipment, and keep the area clean and member-ready. The position also requires following facility safety standards and Company policies, completing required audits and documentation, and reporting unsafe conditions or equipment issues to Management. The role is based at 4901 Santa Anita Ave, El Monte, California.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must successfully complete all job-required trainings and assessments within the prescribed time period if hired.

Responsibilities

• Maintain facility safety by following safety standards, procedures, and guidelines; conduct safety sweeps; follow forklift-spotting and hazardous-material handling and disposal procedures; follow steel standards; and correct or report unsafe situations to Management.
• Maintain sales-floor presentation in the Freezer/Cooler/Deli area by handling claims and returns, zoning, receiving and stocking merchandise, setting up and organizing displays, removing damaged goods, signing and pricing merchandise, completing audits and documentation, and securing fragile and high-shrink merchandise.
• Provide member service by acknowledging members, identifying needs, locating merchandise, assisting with purchasing decisions, providing deli products, resolving issues and concerns, and promoting Company products and services.
• Follow food-handling policies and Cold Chain procedures when stocking merchandise.
• Operate, repair, and sanitize equipment; clean the freezer, cooler, and deli area, including windows, mirrors, display cases, and coolers.
• Monitor freezer and cooler fans, drains, and doors for proper operation and report issues to Management.
• Maintain product quality and availability by checking temperature control and expiration dates and disposing of lower-quality food products.
• Pack ready-to-sell products in proper containers and stock displays.
• Maintain a clean, sanitized, and member-ready work area.
• Work collaboratively, communicate positively, support teammates, and contribute to continuous improvement and a culture of integrity and belonging.
