About The Position

TLG is seeking freelance onsite interpreters who are independent contractors for all spoken languages and American Sign Language (ASL). Opportunities are available in Virginia markets including Harrisonburg, Charlottesville, Hampton Roads, Northern Virginia, Richmond, and Williamsburg; for New Jersey ASL interpreters; and for all languages in Greenville, South Carolina, and Cudahy or Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Applicants elsewhere in the United States are also welcome to apply, as remote opportunities may be available.

Interpreters must be highly fluent in the target language, know medical, educational, and social services terminology, communicate and interact effectively, and follow company policies, procedures, and ethics codes. The company offers competitive pay and guarantees a minimum of two hours per assignment.

Requirements

• At least 6 months of interpreting experience.
• At least 40 hours of formal interpreter training.
• Fluency test scores.
• High-level fluency in the target language.
• Knowledge of medical, educational, and social services terminology.
• Superior communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Interpret onsite for assignments in the relevant language and service setting.
• Follow company policies, procedures, and ethics codes.
