About The Position
Columbia Healthcare Center offers the ASC Nurse Aide Training Program for people interested in becoming Certified Nursing Assistants. No previous experience is required; participants need a commitment to providing compassionate care to residents. The program provides free classroom instruction and hands-on clinical training over two weeks, consisting of 30 classroom hours and 45 clinical hours. ASC instructors, nurses, and CNAs provide support throughout the program. After completing the training and testing, participants may apply for a position at one of American Senior Communities’ Indiana locations. Further career pathways and opportunities in nursing are available.
Requirements
- No previous experience is required.
- Commitment to providing compassionate care to residents.
- Complete the two-week training program, including 30 hours of classroom work and 45 hours of hands-on clinical training, and complete testing.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, hair care, oral care, and shaving.
- Help residents at mealtimes, including transporting them to the dining room and assisting with eating and drinking.
- Reposition and transfer residents between beds, wheelchairs, and toilets.
- Obtain and record resident vital signs, such as heart rate and blood pressure, and other observations.
- Answer resident call lights and assist with requests.
- Build meaningful relationships with residents by providing companionship as well as care.
