Free CNA Training Class
About The Position
Willowdale Village offers a free Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training program through the ASC Nurse Aide Training Program. No previous experience is required; participants need a commitment to providing compassionate care to residents. The program includes free classroom and hands-on training and can prepare participants to become a CNA in a few weeks. Training takes place over two weeks and consists of 30 hours of classroom work and 45 hours of hands-on clinical training, with support from ASC instructors, nurses, and CNAs. After completing the program and testing, participants may apply for a position at one of American Senior Communities’ Indiana-based communities, with opportunities to pursue further nursing career development. CNA work may include assisting residents with personal care, meals, transfers, and mobility; taking and recording vital signs and observations; responding to call lights; and providing companionship. The program includes a free textbook, study materials, uniform, and state testing, as well as one-on-one instructor time. Additional career-development opportunities include tuition and certification reimbursement, college and university partnerships, paid training, and career development.
Requirements

Responsibilities
- Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, hair care, toothbrushing, and shaving.
- Help residents at mealtimes, including transporting them to the dining room and assisting with eating and drinking.
- Reposition and transfer residents between beds, wheelchairs, and toilets.
- Obtain resident vital signs, such as heart rate and blood pressure, and record observations.
- Answer resident call lights and help fulfill requests.
- Build meaningful relationships with residents by providing companionship as well as care.
