About The Position

Prairie Village is offering free Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training for people interested in building a career in compassionate resident care. The program requires no previous experience, but participants are expected to be committed to caring for residents and ultimately working evening shift. Training takes place over two weeks and includes 30 hours of classroom instruction and 45 hours of hands-on clinical training, supported by ASC instructors, nurses, and CNAs. After completing the program and testing, participants may apply for a position at one of American Senior Communities’ Indiana locations. Further nursing career pathways and advancement opportunities are available.

Requirements

No previous experience is required.
Commitment to providing compassionate care to residents.
Willingness to ultimately work evening shift.
Complete the two-week Nurse Aide Training Program, including 30 hours of classroom work and 45 hours of hands-on clinical training, and complete testing.

Responsibilities

Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, hair care, toothbrushing, and shaving.
Help residents at mealtimes, including transporting them to the dining room and assisting with eating and drinking.
Reposition and transfer residents between beds, wheelchairs, and toilets.
Obtain and record resident vital signs, such as heart rate and blood pressure, and other observations.
Answer resident call lights and help fulfill requests.
Provide care and companionship while building meaningful relationships with residents.
