About The Position
American Senior Communities (ASC) offers a free Nurse Aide Training Program in Williamsport for people interested in becoming Certified Nursing Assistants. No previous experience is required; participants need a commitment to providing compassionate care to residents. The program includes two weeks of training: 30 hours of classroom instruction and 45 hours of hands-on clinical training. ASC instructors, nurses, and CNAs provide support throughout the program. After completing the program and testing, participants may apply for a CNA position at one of ASC’s Indiana-based communities, with opportunities to advance in nursing.
Requirements
- No previous experience is required.
- Commitment to providing compassionate care to residents.
- Complete the two-week Nurse Aide Training Program, including 30 classroom hours and 45 hands-on clinical training hours, and complete testing.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, hair care, brushing teeth, and shaving.
- Help residents at mealtimes, including transporting them to the dining room and assisting with eating and drinking.
- Reposition and transfer residents between beds, wheelchairs, and toilets.
- Obtain and record resident vital signs and observations, including heart rate and blood pressure.
- Answer patient call lights and assist with requests.
- Provide resident care and companionship while building meaningful relationships.
