About The Position

Be a part of an innovative and collaborative team driving a safer transportation system for Arizona. This role involves conducting complex reviews of Motor Vehicle Division driver and motor vehicle data, as well as individual driver and vehicle records. The Fraud Analyst will provide guidance and serve as a reference to staff conducting similar reviews. Effective reports will be written conveying review findings and recommendations, and the analyst will assist senior management in conducting follow-up measures to ensure recommended corrective actions are implemented and adhered to. Driving a state vehicle may be required.

  • Apply and interpret federal, state, and agency laws, rules, regulations and policies as they pertain to state and federally-funded programs.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Background and fingerprint clearance.
  • Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks.
  • The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended.
  • Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training.
  • An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
  • All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in data analysis for fraud detection and mitigation
  • 5 to 7 years of Business Operations/Office Management experience
  • Government experience

Responsibilities

  • Conduct complex internal reviews of Motor Vehicle Division transactions and transaction data to identify patterns of potential fraud, compliance with established policies, procedures and regulations, and the efficient use of resources.
  • Effectively communicate findings with division senior leaders and other key staff.
  • Use statistical and research methodologies, employ information technology tools, and recognize patterns in data that may lead to ad hoc or programmed research opportunities.
  • Conduct research, develop, maintain, and execute regular routines for report and transaction review.
  • Interpret policies, procedures, and statutes, and manage and interpret data.
  • Prepare written reports and presentations of findings and recommendations for division leadership.
  • Prepare drafts and incident reports for referral of further investigation to internal Department law enforcement partners.
