About The Position

Tomorrow.io is seeking an FPGA Engineer to help design, develop, and verify digital systems for its proprietary weather-sensing satellites. The role translates high-level design requirements into digital logic designs and contributes to custom electronic hardware development. The engineer works with radar, RF, firmware, software, and hardware teams on requirements, PCBA design, verification, validation, and engineering reviews. This is an onsite role in the Golden office four days per week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a STEM field; a bachelor’s degree is the minimum.
  • At least 3 years of experience designing FPGAs and digital electronics hardware.
  • Thorough understanding of hardware description languages (HDLs) and digital design and verification tools.
  • Literacy in SystemVerilog or VHDL.
  • Sufficient knowledge of PCBA design to contribute to hardware design reviews.
  • Familiarity with lab environments and ESD protocols.
  • Knowledge of and experience with test instruments such as oscilloscopes, programmable power supplies, digital multimeters, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Knowledge of high-speed digital interface standards such as PCIe, DDR4/5, JESD204B/C, and 10 BASE-T Ethernet.
  • Familiarity with digital signal processing techniques in remote sensing applications.
  • This position is restricted to U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and protected individuals unless required licenses are obtained, because it involves technology controlled under U.S. export control laws and regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree.
  • Experience with UVM, UVVM, or OSVM.
  • Awareness of EDA software and the PCB design lifecycle; Altium is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and verify RTL code for FPGAs.
  • Develop and execute PCBA bring-up plans, and track and troubleshoot issues.
  • Propose and evaluate design changes, weighing technical, cost, and schedule considerations against program needs.
  • Collaborate with radar and RF engineers to derive and manage parent and child requirements.
  • Co-develop performance test plans and author and execute test procedures to verify and validate radar components and subsystems.
  • Collaborate with firmware, software, and hardware designers on new PCBA designs.
  • Review engineering products for digital circuits, PCBA, hardware, and firmware.
  • Participate in weekly sprint planning, workload leveling, and effort estimation for design and testing tasks.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive health benefits.
  • Unlimited paid time off and unlimited vacation days.
  • Relocation assistance may be offered or available for certain roles.
  • Flexible hours.
