About The Position

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military experience to a 3M career. As a FP&A Manager - CSS, you will be responsible for leading financial planning, analysis, and consolidation reporting for corporate functions such as HR, IT, Finance, Legal. You will provide business partnering to HR and finance senior leadership teams. Additionally, this position will lead the Operating plan process, develop deliverables, and partner with functional leadership to ensure financial discipline, optimize costs, and align investments with company strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, or Economics (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Seven (7) years of FP&A or corporate finance experience in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).

Responsibilities

  • Leading the annual budget, quarterly forecasts, and long-range planning processes for corporate functions.
  • Developing and maintaining detailed expense models, including headcount, compensation, and operating expenses
  • Providing variance analysis (actual vs. plan/forecast) and clear insights into cost drivers
  • Coordinating with CSS (corporate staff services) team and Finance COE all forecasting and Operating Plan deliverables
  • Acting as the primary finance partner to leaders across the following Corporate Staff functions (HR, Finance)
  • Challenging spending assumptions and providing recommendations to optimize efficiency and ROI
  • Supporting strategic initiatives such as workforce planning, system investments, and transformation programs
  • Monitor operating expenses and ensure adherence to budget targets
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements across functions
  • Establish governance and financial discipline over discretionary spend
  • Lead headcount forecast and analytics (hiring, attrition, productivity)
  • Analyze labor cost trends and provide forward-looking insights
  • Deliver monthly and quarterly financial reports for corporate functions primarily HR and finance
  • Track key metrics such as cost per employee, functional cost ratios, and spend efficiency via bowlers
  • Prepare executive-ready presentations for senior leadership
  • Collaborate with Accounting to ensure proper expense recognition and accruals
  • Partner with Procurement on vendor spend and contract optimization
  • Partner with finance COE to standardize and automatize reporting across functions
  • Enhance financial processes, reporting cadence, and forecast accuracy
  • Automatize reporting and use AI tools to enhance processes and analytics
  • Improve cost allocation methodologies and reporting transparency
  • Experience in department spending detailed analysis
