About The Position
The Fountain Worker at Starbucks Promenade provides friendly, responsive customer service while handling cash register transactions and preparing food and beverages according to guest requests. The role includes accurately entering and posting orders and payments in the POS terminal, following financial-control procedures, preparing drinks to established recipes and time guidelines, and delivering products promptly. The worker maintains appropriate stock levels, assists with pastry and display-case par levels, and keeps the work and condiment areas clean and organized in accordance with health and safety standards. The position also involves basic food preparation and service, assisting coworkers and management, helping train new staff, attending required meetings and training, completing assigned cleaning tasks, and promptly addressing guest complaints while informing management. The role is in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and time constraints. The employee must handle high business volume and sensitive staff or guest situations in a timely manner. Requirements
- At least 6 months of previous cash-handling experience.
- Effective professional communication in English, both verbal and written.
- Neat and professional appearance.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to interact with customers, the public, and coworkers.
- Ability to use a computer and/or cash register.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple tasks under time constraints, manage high business volume, and address sensitive staff or guest situations in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Provide fast, friendly, professional, and responsive customer service to restaurant guests and staff.
- Engage guests using the 10/5 Rule: make eye contact and smile at 10 feet, and greet and speak to guests at 5 feet.
- Accurately enter orders into the POS terminal.
- Accurately post transactions, provide correct change, account for cash, charge, and complimentary sales according to established procedures, and maintain financial controls.
- Prepare drinks according to established recipes and time guidelines.
- Deliver products to customers in a timely manner.
- Maintain high levels of customer service and thank guests for their patronage.
- Maintain appropriate stock levels and assist with display cases and pastry par levels.
- Keep the designated work area clean and organized, and help maintain surrounding and condiment areas in accordance with health and safety standards.
- Assist coworkers as needed and help management get food products to customers.
- Assist in training new Fountain Counter Persons and management staff during their training period.
- Complete periodic cleaning tasks assigned by management.
- Attend mandatory meetings and training classes as assigned.
- Resolve guest complaints promptly and inform management of complaints.
- Prepare or serve menu items such as sandwiches or salads.
- Perform basic food preparation and service.
