About The Position

Peerbound is seeking a Founding Frontend Engineer to be the frontend guru, setting the standard for how our frontend is built and how it feels. This role will report to the Head of Engineering and work closely with the CEO and customers across every frontend surface, including our web app and embeddable components on high-traffic public sites. The position involves setting the foundation by partnering with the in-house designer to build out the component library and design system, establishing a cross-browser testing framework, and owning the leverage of AI tooling in UI development and collaboration. The role also requires shipping constantly, going from PRD to production weekly, designing APIs, building reusable components, writing tests, and monitoring user interactions. Near-term roadmap includes a customer analytics dashboard, a chatbot interface, and an overhauled user management experience. A key aspect of this role is to dazzle customers by bringing best practices into the product, being a thought partner to the Product Designer, and optimizing performance relentlessly, as the frontend is where customers feel the company's quality most.

Requirements

5+ years building customer-facing frontends
3+ years at a startup or scale-up
Fluent in TypeScript, React, and GraphQL
Comfortable with Tailwind CSS, Figma, and Storybook
Care about craft at every level, from easing curves to component naming conventions.

Responsibilities

Set the foundation for the frontend, including building out the component library and design system in partnership with the designer.
Establish a cross-browser testing framework.
Own how AI tooling is leveraged as a force multiplier in UI development and collaboration.
Ship features from PRD to production weekly, including API design, component building, testing, and monitoring.
Contribute to near-term roadmap items such as a customer analytics dashboard, a chatbot interface, and an overhauled user management experience.
Bring best practices into the product and optimize performance.
Act as a thought partner to the Product Designer.
