About The Position

The Foundation Development Officer maximizes philanthropic opportunities by engaging major philanthropists and reaching out to prospects and investors in the local community. The officer manages a portfolio of prospects and donors and generates fundraising results through conversations. The role serves as a liaison to hospitals, hospice, research institutes, and other entities by identifying key stakeholders, building relationships, and fostering two-way communication to align objectives and advance the organization’s mission.

The successful candidate has knowledge of philanthropic concepts and modern fundraising principles, understands relationship building, and demonstrates strong organizational and communication skills, self-motivation, and perseverance in achieving established goals.

Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience in a team-selling environment.
• Strong knowledge of philanthropic concepts and modern fundraising principles.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• 1–3 years of relevant experience in business development, sales, fundraising, or a similar field.
• Experience with planned giving instruments.

Responsibilities

• Own a sales/development portfolio.
• Work with Foundation leadership to develop and implement fund development strategies and a sales-based fundraising approach for the organization and larger division.
• Identify and prioritize high-level prospects and investors.
• Steward donors to encourage ongoing support and maintain high donor retention.
• Meet or exceed annual fundraising goals.
• Own relationship management and strategy for all prospects and investors in the portfolio.
• Serve as a liaison to hospitals, hospice, research institutes, and other entities, identifying stakeholders, building relationships, and facilitating two-way communication.
