About The Position

The Connected Warfare division’s Mission Command team builds, deploys, integrates, extends, and scales Anduril software and hardware to deliver mission-critical capabilities. Mission Software Engineers work closely with customers and end-users to solve operational challenges and deliver capabilities such as Lattice Mesh, Joint All Domain Command & Control, and Anduril’s Menace Family-of-Systems. In this role, you will build software for a tactical-edge platform, addressing problems across networking, autonomy, systems integration, robotics, and distributed data layers. You will help ensure Anduril products work together and with third-party systems, supporting resilient decision-making in contested and disconnected environments. The team balances long-term system design with pragmatic tradeoffs to meet immediate customer needs. The role includes owning software solutions deployed to customers, working end-to-end with users and cross-functional teams, and supporting system health and production issue resolution. Travel is expected 10%–30% of the time to meet customers, understand operating conditions, and build, test, and deploy capabilities in the field.

Requirements

  • Currently possess and be able to maintain an active U.S. Secret Clearance.
  • Strong engineering background from industry or school, ideally in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Networking, Mathematics, or Physics.
  • At least 3–10+ years working with a variety of programming languages, such as Go, Python, Java, C++, or Rust.
  • Experience building software solutions involving significant amounts of data processing and analysis.
  • Ability to quickly understand and navigate complex systems and established code bases.
  • Desire to work on critical software with real-world impact.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with and designing distributed systems.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality results at pace, ideally within a startup or high-growth environment.
  • Deep networking experience, especially with distributed systems operating in non-standard networking conditions.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, and software infrastructure fundamentals such as networking, security, and distributed systems.
  • Deep, demonstrated understanding of how computers and networks work, from a single desktop to a multi-cluster cloud node.
  • Professional software development lifecycle experience using tools such as version control and CI/CD systems.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard monitoring, logging, and data management tools and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Own software solutions spanning core mesh platforms, data interfaces, and release management, deployed directly to customers to scale mission capabilities.
  • Deliver well-architected systems using modern software engineering practices, including code and design reviews, while prioritizing scalability, reliability, testability, portability, and maintainability.
  • Drive software solutions end-to-end, partnering with end-users to translate complex needs into features while balancing user experience with engineering constraints.
  • Collaborate across multiple teams to plan, build, and test complex, cross-functional functionality.
  • Create and analyze monitoring metrics, triage production issues, identify root causes, and coordinate next steps to maintain system health and resolve issues rapidly.
  • Travel 10%–30% of the time to meet customers, collaborate with teammates, understand real-world operating conditions, and build, test, and deploy capabilities in the field.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers and are considered part of total compensation.
  • Top-tier benefits for full-time employees, described as a comprehensive, competitive benefits package available at little to no cost to employees.
