Forward Deployed Engineering Lead
About The Position
Lovable is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineering Lead to build and lead the FDE team in their location while helping shape how the function operates and scales globally. The role combines engineering leadership with substantial hands-on work: partnering directly with ambitious customers, designing and shipping production solutions, and building alongside the team. The lead will work with customers creating novel AI systems, guide complex projects from initial idea through architecture, delivery, and iteration, and set high standards for architecture, engineering, and execution. Insights from customer deployments will inform improvements to Lovable’s core product and platform, while the lead also contributes to product strategy, technical decisions, and the team’s cultural foundations. The role collaborates closely with other FDE leaders to establish standards and playbooks for global operations. Lovable’s technology includes React and TypeScript on the frontend; Golang and Rust on the backend; Cloudflare, GCP, AWS, and multiple LLM providers in the cloud; and tools such as GitHub Actions, OTEL, Grafana, and Terraform. The stack continues to evolve.
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience across software engineering, technical architecture, and customer-facing engineering.
- Experience leading and developing high-performing technical teams.
- A track record of remaining deeply hands-on as leadership responsibilities have grown.
- Strong full-stack engineering fundamentals across modern frontend and backend development.
- Strong architectural thinking and familiarity with distributed systems.
- Experience owning complex technical engagements end to end.
- Exceptional product intuition and the ability to work directly with users.
- Ability to move between writing code, making architectural decisions, leading engineers, and working with senior customer stakeholders.
- High agency and comfort operating in high-ambiguity, high-velocity environments.

- Experience building a team or technical function from zero.
- Experience working on agentic AI systems or building with LLMs in production.
- Experience leading zero-to-one product development.
- Experience in a founding or early-stage startup environment.
- Experience across high-growth startups, big tech, consulting, or enterprise AI.
Responsibilities
- Recruit, develop, and lead an exceptional team of Forward Deployed Engineers.
- Work directly with customers to understand their workflows, needs, and most difficult technical problems.
- Design, prototype, and implement solutions personally alongside the team.
- Own and guide projects from idea through architecture, shipping, and iteration.
- Set technical standards through architecture decisions, code reviews, and hands-on engineering.
- Translate insights from customer deployments into foundational platform improvements.
- Partner with other FDE leads to shape standards, playbooks, and the global scaling of the function.
- Contribute to core product strategy, technical decisions, and cultural foundations.
