BintiSan Francisco, CA
$200,000 - $300,000Hybrid

About The Position

Binti builds software for state and county government agencies, focusing on reinventing social services. We started in child welfare, with the mission of helping every child have a safe, loving, and stable family. To date, we’ve helped approve more than 100,000 families to foster or adopt, and we support over 49% of the nation’s child welfare system. We have expanded our product offerings in child welfare, moving more to the root of the problem, helping families stay together and avoid separation, and are now expanding horizontally across other areas in social services. Binti is a for-profit, mission-driven software company based in San Francisco, CA. Investors include Founders Fund, First Round Capital, Kapor Capital, and others. We’re a team of ~90 people and growing quickly. We care about creating a workplace where everyone feels welcome and can bring their full self to work. We have a huge, ambitious vision to rewire government to be more effective in expanding opportunities for people around the world, and we are looking for mission-driven, high-empathy, high-performance, and low-ego team members to join us on our exciting journey towards that vision. OVERVIEW OF ROLE We’re looking for technically sharp, customer-focused engineers who are excited to work directly with our partners to design and deliver integrations that unlock the full value of the Binti platform. As a Forward Deployed Engineer and part of the Integrations Engineering team, you’ll take ownership of high-impact, externally-facing technical projects — from on-site discovery and architecture sessions to live co-development and ongoing support. Strong candidates combine deep engineering experience with excellent communication skills, a service mindset, and the ability to thrive in dynamic, ambiguous environments. LOCATION Binti is headquartered in San Francisco, California, and we have a great office by Salesforce Park in San Francisco, where our team comes Mondays & Thursdays. We have also opened a satellite office on Lake Union in Seattle. We are also open to remote for the right candidate. A big part of this position will be directly supporting our customers in their integration journey, and thus this job is up to 50% travel. Opportunities to go on-site with our customers will include design and discovery sessions, co-development work, and technical onboarding.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with legacy systems (even better in the government context) and the difficulties and tradeoffs that come with working with them.
  • Ability to architect, build, and maintain distributed integrated systems.
  • Comfortable with APIs, data pipelines (ETL), enterprise data warehouses (EDW), and all their friends.
  • Experience and ability to effectively project manage your own work and your own time.
  • Excellent collaboration skills with cross-functional partners in product, program management, sales, and more.

Nice To Haves

  • Energized by working with customers to solve real-world problems, not just closing out engineering tickets.
  • Ability to visualize how a big software system like ours works, but also think about how it interacts at the edges with our customers’ software systems.
  • History of not only shipping code and products, but also making customers happy.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experienced and confident with Ruby/Ruby on Rails, but also comfortable in other programming languages like Python, C#, Java, etc.
  • Quick learner who is motivated by up-leveling their skills and taking on new challenges.
  • Interest in the boundless possibilities of Gen AI interest, with experience and judgement in that area being a big plus.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in discovery and architecture sessions with customers to ensure that integrations are designed to support our customers needs, best leverage the Binti platform, and be performant, secure, and scalable.
  • Lead co-development sessions with our customers’ development teams, working side-by-side with them in person or virtually, to provide them live support and consulting as they integrate with the Binti platform and APIs.
  • Develop relationships with our customers’ technical teams with the goal of becoming a trusted partner who they can lean on for support and assistance.
  • Provide integration technical support to our customers, answering questions, providing consultative advice, and helping them debug their integrations.
  • Collaborate with the rest of the Binti Integrations Team to develop improvements and bug fixes for the Binti RESTful APIs, connectors, and integration tools.
  • Assist other teams at Binti, like Program Management, Customer Support, and Sales, by answering questions about our integration capabilities and our projects with customers, and by keeping them apprised of how our customers are using our products and when and where they need help.
  • Synthesize and deliver product feedback in order to allow us to use it to improve Binti’s modules and integration capabilities.
  • Champion security and privacy, including looking for ways to make it easier to safeguard HIPAA compliance for sensitive data and incorporate security best practices.
