Forward Deployed Engineer

About The Position

PartsBase Inc. is seeking a senior, client-facing Forward Deployed Engineer to scope, build, and certify AI-driven integrations for corporate customers and strengthen the company’s platform between engagements. The role independently leads engagements from discovery through customer sign-off, using Claude Code as the primary instrument. PartsBase describes its work environment as fully remote and its culture as team-focused and inclusive. The engineer runs technical discovery, defines solution designs and estimates, builds and verifies integrations, and serves as the primary technical interface through customer security review and change control. The role also develops reusable verification tools and agentic safeguards, documents and hands off completed solutions, and turns recurring engagement needs into product capabilities. Between customer engagements, the engineer contributes to the core platform and maintains internal agentic tooling and the developer experience for integrations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years building and shipping production software across backend, frontend, and integration work.
  • At least 5 years operating systems the candidate built, including on-call responsibility and ownership of long-term design decisions.
  • Direct experience in billable consulting, professional services, or solutions engineering, including scoping, estimating build effort and running cost, and owning customer relationships.
  • Ability to both build and certify solutions; strength in only one of these areas is not sufficient.
  • Demonstrated production use of Claude Code, including CLAUDE.md, subagents, skills, hooks, MCP servers, and the Claude API; evidence is requested rather than a specific number of years.
  • Command of context engineering, tool use, model selection, and failure modes of non-deterministic systems.
  • Ability to identify confidently incorrect AI output and experience building automated checks to prevent it from reaching customers.
  • Deep experience verifying data integrations, including reconciliation strategy, parity at scale, sampling versus full comparison, and handling records that legitimately differ.
  • Experience with agent-driven testing and evaluation of non-deterministic behavior, including Claude-assisted verification design, evaluation design and scoring, and regression detection across prompt and model changes.
  • Test automation at scale using Playwright, Cypress, or equivalent, as well as API and contract testing and flake elimination.
  • Experience owning a defect that reached a customer and making a systemic change in response rather than merely adding a test case.
  • Judgment about when to productize a customer-specific solution and when a pattern is not sufficiently established to generalize.
  • Experience evolving a partner-facing API, including versioning and deprecation consequences.
  • Experience with C# and .NET, including .NET Framework 4.6-era code, as well as Python, TypeScript, and React with Next.js or React Native.
  • AWS experience deploying, operating, and debugging production workloads.
  • Experience with REST integration at scale and data integration ranging from spreadsheets and flat files to batch, webhooks, event-driven systems, and direct APIs.
  • Experience with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and Elasticsearch.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines containing test automation, production observability such as New Relic or equivalent, and automation platforms such as n8n.
  • Ability to lead customer discovery sessions and build customer confidence, including when the customer’s process relies on spreadsheets.
  • Professional handling of situations where the candidate was overruled or persuaded an organization against a desired course of action.
  • Fluency in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Aviation, aerospace, or defense industry exposure, including ITAR/EAR awareness.
  • ERP integration experience with SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, or aerospace-specific systems.
  • Security testing practice, including OWASP Top 10 and OWASP Top 10 for LLMs.

Responsibilities

  • Run technical discovery with customers and turn findings into technical scopes, risk assessments, and estimates covering build effort and operating costs at expected customer volume.
  • Partner with Sales on scoping and own solution design.
  • Build end-to-end integrations with Claude Code, including agents and MCP servers, ERP and third-party connectors, file and batch ingestion, webhooks, and data mapping.
  • Certify work against the customer’s source of truth using automated regression and evidence suitable for customer sign-off.
  • Build reusable verification tools, including parity harnesses, reconciliation, agent-driven test generation, and customer-acceptable reporting.
  • Define testing approaches for agentic components, including prompt-injection paths, tool and MCP permission scoping, and limits on agent actions without human involvement.
  • Design safeguards for agentic components in customer environments, including scoped credentials, approval gates, output validation, audit logging, and rollback.
  • Serve as the primary technical interface for customer engagements and complete customer security reviews and change control processes without bypassing them.
  • Provide clean handoffs with documentation, runbooks, and monitoring.
  • Productize recurring engagement needs into API capabilities, reference implementations, connectors, and an official PartsBase MCP server.
  • Own developer experience for the integration surface, including documentation for agents and people, worked examples, and a self-service path.
  • Contribute across the full stack to the core platform between engagements.
  • Build and maintain internal agentic tooling, including CLAUDE.md, subagents, skills, hooks, MCP servers, and n8n automations.
