Forward Deployed Engineer (Toronto)
About The Position
LumApps is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to be the "tip of the spear" for their strategic AI initiative, focusing on the "Last Mile Integration" problem. The FDE will solve technical challenges on the ground to accelerate the adoption of LumApps' core AI technologies: Micro-Apps and Agents. This role sits at the intersection of engineering and customer impact, requiring the deployment of live, ROI-generating AI Agents within rapid cycles. It offers a rare opportunity for career acceleration by working with senior leadership and opening doors to future roles as an architect, tech lead, or product manager. Candidates must be located in the Greater Toronto Area.
Requirements
- 6+ years of engineering or technical deployment experience that includes customer-facing work.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, with demonstrated excellence in analytical thinking and software development.
- A strong bias for action and the ability to self-prioritize in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
- Proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, Java or Python.
- Comfortable with frontend frameworks like React and backend API design.
- A passion for emerging tech, specifically Generative AI, RAG architecture, AI Frameworks and Agentic workflows.
- Full professional proficiency in English to communicate clearly with engineers, product teams, and customers.
- Willingness to travel for regular on-site workshops with customers across North America.
- Must be located in the Greater Toronto Area.

- Experience working directly with customers, understanding their needs and designing high-value solutions to fulfill their expectations.
- Experience working in Scrum environments.
- Understanding of enterprise identity frameworks like OICD, OAuth 2.0 or SAML.
- Bilingual in English and French.
Responsibilities
- Embed with customers to map complex data environments and identify high-friction business workflows, such as HR onboarding or IT support.
- Build proof-of-concept AI Agents and integrations using APIs, webhooks, and LLMs that plan, decide, and act within the LumApps ecosystem.
- Architect the middleware and custom connectors required to bridge LumApps with systems like SAP, Workday, or ServiceNow.
- Act as the trailblazer for the Core R&D team by identifying systemic integration patterns in the field and contributing code to harden and evolve the core platform.
- Abstract custom solutions into scalable, repeatable "Industry Vertical Packs."
