In this position, while Ford leverages industry-standard platforms for its core ERP, CRM, and MES capabilities, the most challenging and high-value problems exist at the intersection of customers, operations, physical assets, and data with software. These are not generic applications but custom-built solutions for real operational problems where building in-house is faster and smarter, accelerated by AI. The role is for engineers who want to own outcomes, not just tickets. Engineers will be embedded with internal stakeholders and external customers to understand operational problems and then design, build, and deploy the software to solve them. This involves working across the full stack: application development, cloud infrastructure on GCP, enterprise data platform for AI scale, integrations with manufacturing and warehousing technology, and automation and tooling for production deployment. This role is ideal for engineers who thrive in ambiguity, desire direct exposure to business and customer problems, and seek significant ownership and accountability. Instead of receiving a fully specified spec, engineers will help define the problem and then build and deploy the solution. Ford Energy's engineering organization is being built to be AI-native from day one, integrating intelligent automation, orchestration, and applied AI/ML into daily operations.
