About The Position

Jetson is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) for its Finance team. This role is designed to embed engineers within business teams to build tools, agents, and automations that improve how they operate. The FDE will work closely with accounting, FP&A, and leadership stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver solutions. This role is part of a new initiative to scale impact through technology and data, with a focus on AI-native development and rapid iteration. The FDE will contribute to a shared internal platform, making future deployments faster. The goal is to accelerate the transition of homes to sustainable energy by making clean energy simple, transparent, and affordable.

Requirements

Strong engineering fundamentals and a drive to ship functional solutions.
Fluency in TypeScript, Python, or another high-level language.
Comfort with SQL, APIs, and cloud tooling.
Ability to write code that others can build upon.
Value breadth and speed over deep specialization.
Excellent communication skills to understand stakeholder needs, explain tradeoffs, and drive adoption.
Ability to learn new domains quickly and deeply.
Experience with AI-native development, including using AI tools for coding and building agentic and LLM-powered features.
Comfort working in undefined problem spaces and prioritizing shipping useful solutions quickly.
Focus on enabling teams to be faster and more capable through built solutions.
Ability to handle sensitive data with care.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with financial workflows such as close, reporting, or FP&A.
Experience with an ERP system, specifically NetSuite.
Understanding of the challenges associated with AI implementation: latency, cost, reliability, evaluation, and graceful failure.

Responsibilities

Embed within the Finance team to gain fluency in workflows such as monthly close, reconciliations, financial and management reporting, rebate accounting, AP/AR, and FP&A across a multi-entity business in the US and Canada.
Design, build, and ship AI agents to automate or accelerate finance workflows, such as assembling monthly close checklists or reconciling rebate flows.
Build and maintain integrations and automations to ensure accurate data flow between systems like NetSuite, spreadsheets, and Jetson's data platform.
Develop dashboards and tools to provide Finance and leadership with real-time visibility into key metrics like margin, cash position, AR/AP aging, and close status.
Collaborate with stakeholders to scope requirements, questioning them directly to identify the most effective solutions, which may be smaller or different than initially requested.
Contribute reusable capabilities to the shared internal platform alongside other FDEs and core engineering, prioritizing long-term platform development over one-off scripts.
Utilize AI tools like Claude Code or Cursor for faster development and understand the challenges of AI implementation, including latency, cost, reliability, evaluation, and graceful failure.
