About The Position

The Forklift / Warehouse Utility position is based at Abbott Nutrition’s new distribution center in Altavista, Virginia. The role supports warehouse and distribution operations, including receiving, loading and unloading, case picking, barcoding, palletizing, shipping and receiving office functions, and handling raw materials. The position requires accurate documentation and data entry, adherence to process procedures, and safe and efficient use of material-handling equipment. The employee is accountable for meeting FDA, OSHA, and Abbott compliance standards.

The position works one of two schedules: Sunday through Wednesday or Wednesday through Saturday, from 3:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Create accurate and legible receiving documentation, perform data entry, maintain applicable databases, and process inbound pallets through the proper procedures.
• Perform loading, unloading, case picking, barcoding, and palletizer operations safely and efficiently, following documentation and process requirements and ensuring trailers meet weight requirements.
• Safely operate palletizer equipment and a shuttle wagon/switcher to meet business needs.
• Complete shipping and receiving office functions, maintain accurate documentation and databases, and ensure bills of lading are signed and dated by the common carrier driver and clerk during the shift.
• Store, pick, or assemble raw materials and verify commodity numbers, quantities, release status, and lot numbers.
• Check materials against packaging lists, invoices, freight bills, or other documentation for accuracy and conformity.
• Clean finished goods warehouse areas.
• Perform other tasks assigned by management to meet business needs.
• Meet FDA, OSHA, and Abbott policies and procedures.
