About The Position

The Forklift Operator - Pallet Sorter moves pallets and other materials through warehouse areas to support production requirements and loads and unloads customer trailers. The role may also include sorting pallets by hand and repairing damaged wooden pallets by hand, depending on the location. The work is approximately 60% forklift operation and 40% other duties. This role is based at 3300 Channahon Rd, Joliet, IL 60436, and pays $21.00 per hour. The listed schedule is first shift, Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Willingness to work in a labor-intensive environment.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Willingness to work overtime as needed.
Ability to work in extreme conditions, including heat, cold, elements, and airborne particulates.
Ability to repeatedly bend, stoop, walk, turn, pivot, and sit in a forklift for entire shifts of varying lengths.
Ability to meet the job's vision requirements, including close, distance, and color vision.
May be required to lift pallets weighing 50 to 75 pounds by hand.
Required PPE includes eye protection and safety shoes; ear protection is mandatory at several locations.

Nice To Haves

Forklift certification preferred.
One to three years of forklift experience preferred but not required.
Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, lumber, carpentry, welding, roofing, and/or construction is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Move sorted pallet stacks to the appropriate staging area using company forklift equipment.
Operate forklifts carefully and follow company safety procedures at all times.
Hand-sort wooden pallets when required.
Repair wooden pallets using a nail gun when required.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Load and unload customer trailers.
Support production requirements across warehouse areas.
