About The Position

The Forklift Operator is primarily responsible for operating forklift equipment, setting up the debone area, and transporting finished product. The role requires maintaining personal protective equipment and complying with company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines, and applicable local, state, and federal policies, laws, and regulations.

The schedule is Monday through Friday, 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, though shift times may vary. Occasional Saturdays and Sundays may be required. Pay is based on years of employment: $21.50 for entry through 4 years; $21.75 for 5–9 years; $22.00 for 10–14 years; $22.25 for 15–19 years; and $22.50 for 20 or more years.

Requirements

• Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivate.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended shift hours.
• Sound work ethic, honesty, and moral character.
• Forklift certification.
• Ability to stand for up to 8 hours.
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.
• Ability to roll and push buggies weighing approximately 1,000 pounds.
• Ability to frequently reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and crawl.
• Ability to work in wet and cold conditions and around heat, dust, raw animal odors, noise exceeding 85 decibels, CO2, and moving production.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Relative poultry industry experience.
• Basic math functions and skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up the debone area with coolant and tubs and transport combos.
• Transport finished product to the scales and manifest area.
• Move product to be reworked.
• Maintain the forklift in a sanitary manner and replace its battery when needed.
• Work cooperatively with supervisors and coworkers.
• Complete tasks assigned by management.
• Follow directions and work in other departments as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures and safety requirements.
• Wear required personal protective equipment.
