About The Position

The Foreperson directs and performs a variety of tasks assisting crews engaged in the construction, maintenance, and operation of water works facilities. The role assigns and oversees crew work, helps determine staffing, equipment, and materials needed for jobs, and ensures required safety regulations are followed. The Foreperson also performs hands-on installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair work on water facilities and completes related company reports.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 3 years of experience in construction, plumbing, or building trades.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions and meet the physical requirements of the position.

Responsibilities

• Assign duties to department employees as directed.
• Install and maintain water pipelines, services, valves, pumps, meters, tank connections, and other water facilities.
• Train crew members and rate their work performance.
• Complete company reports related to the crew.
• Determine the staff, equipment, and materials needed for each job.
• Enforce safety regulations for assigned work.
• Inspect meters, valves, hydrants, and pipes for defects such as leaks or malfunctioning meters, and tighten pipe connections as needed.
• Investigate customer complaints.
• May record meter readings.
• May break up pavement and dig excavations to prepare for pipe removal or repair.
• Perform work as assigned by the supervisor.
