Requirements

  • Three years as a Forensic Registered Nurse (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Four years of professional nursing experience providing care, treatment, custody, and control of psychiatric patients.
  • Active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
  • All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act. Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction, evaluation and oversight of nursing staff in forensic care areas
  • Serve as a knowledgeable support for nursing teams, interdisciplinary partners, and patient support services
  • Review and maintain a safe and therapeutic setting for patients and employees
  • Guide staff development, orientation, and ongoing training programs
  • Coach staff, evaluate work performance, and support corrective action when needed
  • Manage communication, records, reports, and patient care documentation
