About The Position

The Forensic Case Manager provides case management and monitoring services for individuals involved in the criminal justice system who experience serious mental illness. This position primarily serves individuals under court supervision who have been adjudicated Incompetent to Proceed (ITP) or Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity (NGRI) in accordance with Florida Statutes and Rules of Criminal Procedure. The Forensic Case Manager supports recovery, community stability, and public safety by coordinating treatment services, monitoring compliance with court requirements, and promoting the individual’s independence and quality of life.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related Human Services field from an accredited university or college required.
  • Minimum of one year of experience working with adults experiencing mental illness required.
  • Must be eligible for enrollment as an Adult Case Manager in Florida.
  • Must obtain Certified Behavioral Health Case Manager (CBHCM) certification within six (6) months of hire.
  • Must complete FARS certification within one (1) month of hire.
  • Proficiency in the RBHS/MHRC Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Patient Information System demonstrated within three months of employment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook and the use of the Internet.
  • Must meet MHRC/RBHS driver requirements, including a valid Florida driver’s license, required insurance coverage, and acceptable driving record.
  • Strong communication skills are essential and this individual must be able to interact appropriately with internal and external customers, families, caregivers, community service providers, supervisory staff and other department professionals.
  • Background screening and clearance through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse is required.

Responsibilities

  • Develops service plans in collaboration with individuals served, family members, and treatment providers.
  • Coordinates and monitors mental health, social, and court-ordered services.
  • Advocates for individuals served and assists with access to community resources.
  • Assists medical providers during medication management appointments and monitors treatment effectiveness.
  • Supports placement in the least restrictive environment appropriate to the individual’s needs.
  • Monitors individuals involved in the criminal justice system who may require competency restoration or commitment services under Chapter 916, Florida Statutes.
  • Collaborates with courts, attorneys, correctional facilities, state hospitals, and community providers regarding treatment and compliance with court orders.
  • Conducts risk assessments and monitors compliance with conditional release and treatment plans.
  • Prepares court-related documentation, including progress and violation reports.
  • Provides competency restoration services and forensic mental health support as needed.
  • Utilizes the Eleos Health documentation tool to reduce documentation time, transform notes into complete documentation, support accurate and compliant documentation, provide insights for care planning, and access notes on desktop or mobile.
