About The Position
The Foreman supervises, assigns, coordinates, and evaluates semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel based on their skills, experience, and job knowledge. The role trains employees to improve work quality and quantity, recommends training to enhance skills and productivity, and helps develop training procedures. The Foreman translates broad strategies into practical action plans and ensures employees are trained to carry them out. The position is responsible for technical compliance, including adherence to drawings and procedures, and oversees manufacturing, installation, operation, testing, and process operations with significant financial impact. The Foreman supervises qualified trades staff and monitors job and budget performance across all shifts. Newport News Shipbuilding is offering a $5,000 sign-on bonus to eligible Foreman new hires, including current Newport News Shipbuilding employees.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree, or apprentice certification, or high school education plus four years of combined manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, or military experience, or an associate degree in a trade/technical field plus three years of relevant manufacturing, shipbuilding, trade, or military experience.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
