About The Position

Responsible for the general operations of an NCAA Division l Football Equipment Room within a Christian university environment. This role involves overseeing purchases, inventory, distribution, and management of all athletic equipment and apparel for the football team, ensuring compliance with university and NCAA regulations. The position also includes facility management, coordination with various departments, and supervision of staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of football equipment.
  • Strong writing skills and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to utilize inventory software.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee football athletic equipment purchases, inventory, and distribution according to Houston Christian University purchasing regulations.
  • Work with the Head Football Coach to establish necessary athletic equipment/apparel needs for the sport of Football.
  • Be knowledgeable of NCAA, conference, and university rules and regulations impacting the position.
  • Manage the football equipment room, including supervision of staff.
  • Formulate and implement equipment room policies related to purchasing, equipment fitting, recordkeeping, inventory control, laundry, and equipment transport.
  • Ensure the proper fit of equipment for all football student-athletes (helmets, shoulder pads, shoes, etc.).
  • Coordinate with HCU’s Athletic Administration to ensure all logo and trademark provisions are adhered to and school marks are properly deployed.
  • Develop, implement, and manage the process to launder all practice and game team clothing/uniforms.
  • Communicate with the proper channels to ensure the upkeep of equipment.
  • Facility Management for the football locker room, coach’s locker room, equipment room, and surrounding areas, including necessary repairs.
  • Contact authorities to ensure timely repairs are completed.
  • Coordinate with local trucking companies for timely departure and arrival of equipment for road games.
  • Manage travel strategy, including loading/unloading equipment trucks and packing for student-athletes, coaches, and staff.
  • Manage and maintain the headset system on a weekly basis during the season.
  • Inventory control using inventory software for all football equipment room goods (helmets, shoulder pads, apparel, footwear, jerseys, etc.) for yearly inventory requests.
  • Maintain and properly store all field equipment for the football team.
  • Work with the Sports Medicine staff to ensure student-athletes' safety and needs are met.
  • Continuously monitor innovations in athletic equipment (helmets, shoulder pads, cleats, etc.).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Supervise Student Assistants and Part-Time Equipment Manager.
