About The Position
Under minimal supervision, the Steward/ess provides direct meal service to patients in a friendly and efficient manner, gathers feedback about food and service, and promptly resolves reported problems. The role collaborates with leadership staff to improve the quality of food and nutrition care services. All duties are performed with sensitivity to the cultural, age, developmental, and environmental safety needs of the patient populations served.
Requirements
- No diploma or degree is required.
- No license or certification is required.
Nice To Haves
- High School Diploma/GED preferred.
- One year of food service or comparable experience serving others preferred.
Responsibilities
- Deliver food, trays, and nourishment items to the correct patients and locations, using two patient identifiers when delivering meals or nourishment.
- Collect soiled trays and ask patients for feedback about their food and service.
- Follow correct service ware cleaning and dishwashing procedures.
- Assemble trays accurately according to prescribed diets and in a timely manner.
- Prepare food and nourishment items according to standard production orders.
- Follow standard procedures for preparing meals and hot and cold beverages for meal service.
- Follow instructions and guidelines for proper storage of food and supplies.
- Operate, sanitize, and maintain equipment in the work area.
- Comply with policies and adapt to changes in the unit as required.
- Escalate issues to supervisors as appropriate.
- Perform duties mindfully and safely.
