Food Services Steward/Stewardess - Per Diem

About The Position

Under minimal supervision, the Steward/Stewardess provides direct meal service to patients in a friendly and efficient manner. The role obtains patient feedback about food and service, promptly resolves reported problems, and collaborates with leadership staff to improve the quality of patient food and nutrition care services. Duties are performed with sensitivity to the cultural, age, developmental, and environmental safety needs of the patient populations served.

Requirements

No diploma or degree is required.
A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
No license or certification is required.

Nice To Haves

One year of food service or comparable experience serving others is preferred.

Responsibilities

Deliver food items, trays, and nourishment items to designated locations and patients, using two patient identifiers when delivering meals or nourishment.
Collect soiled trays and ask patients for feedback about their food and service.
Demonstrate correct service ware cleaning and dishwashing procedures.
Assemble trays accurately according to prescribed diets and in a timely manner.
Prepare food and nourishment items accurately according to standard production orders.
Follow standard procedures for preparing meals and hot or cold beverages for meal service.
Follow instructions and guidelines for proper storage of food and supplies.
Operate, sanitize, and maintain equipment in the work area.
Comply with policies and adapt to changes in the unit as required.
Escalate issues to supervisors as appropriate.
Perform duties in a mindful and safe manner.
