About The Position

The Food Services Coordinator is responsible for preparing and/or directing the preparation of food to be served, complying with all applicable sanitation, health, and personal hygiene standards, and following CACFP established food production procedures. The Food Coordinator is also responsible for appropriate use of facility inventory, supplies and equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
  • Minimum of two or more years of job related experience or training in institutional or hospital food services.
  • Skill in operating various types of kitchen equipment such as stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave, and other equipment.
  • Ability to complete necessary records and reports in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Ability to communicate with others, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to lift, carry and move center/classroom equipment and supplies.
  • Ability to obtain SERV Safe Food Handlers certification within six months of hire.
  • Must be able to pass a background check that meets compliance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Mentors Food Aide(s) under the supervision and guidance of Food Services Manager.
  • Prepares food items for meals as needed for students and/or school events.
  • Monitors food allergy and special diet needs and prepares comparable substitutions that meet CACFP requirements.
  • Manages the organization and distribution of food for classrooms, ensuring servings and ingredients meet CACFP requirements.
  • Orders, stores, and maintains inventories of formula, milk products, food products, supplies, and kitchen chemicals.
  • Checks in all supplies and maintains a first in-first out inventory.
  • Maintains kitchen sanitation requirements through cleaning of utensils, dishes, and equipment on a scheduled basis.
  • Completes paperwork required for the CACFP program and assists with monitoring CACFP requirements throughout the building.
  • Consults with staff on nutrition projects, healthy eating habits for children, family style meals and/or CACFP guidelines.
  • Assists with covering duties at other sites when needed for staffing requirements.
