Whitsons is hiring a substitute school food service worker for its Lake Zurich School Nutrition program. The role supports school meals by preparing, portioning, and serving food to students and staff; setting up and cleaning serving stations and kitchen areas; and following food safety and sanitation procedures. Workers help provide a positive, welcoming mealtime experience and contribute to the kitchen team’s daily service goals. The position is primarily site-based in a kitchen and food service production environment. Workdays and hours align with the facility’s food service schedule; the posting describes the role as on-call and notes that it may be full-time or part-time. Occasional extended hours may be required for special events or operational needs, and occasional travel to other locations may be needed for substitute coverage or support. The posting advertises weekday work, with no nights or weekends, and says weekends, evenings, holidays, and summers are off. The role requires completion of Whitsons and government-mandated training. Professional food service experience and ServSafe certification are preferred but not required. The position involves standing for most of the workday, frequent walking and handling of food, tools, and equipment, lifting or moving up to 50 pounds, and exposure to hot and cold temperatures. Pay is $15 per hour.
