About The Position

Performs food service tasks involving meal assembly and delivery, dishwashing, and metal ware, with primary support in the dish room. The position includes preparing workstations, working on tray-line stations, delivering meals and supplies to patients and clinics, and cleaning dishes, equipment, and kitchen areas. The worker may also prepare simple foods and maintain tray delivery and pickup records.

Requirements

Able to read and write English and perform basic math calculations.
Able to walk and stand for long periods, up to 100% of the workday.
Able to lift and push up to 50 pounds.
Able to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to 50% of work time.
Interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with staff, other department personnel, and patients.
Able to work above the head and low to the ground; frequent walking and standing, with occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, and climbing.
May be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, blood, bodily fluids, and tissues.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Three to six months of on-the-job training or previous experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Set up and clean the tray-line assembly area, including hot and cold food items, silverware, dishes, napkins, salads, desserts, breads, and beverages.
Prepare workstations by stocking food and non-food items and equipment as needed.
Work at tray-line assembly stations and read tray tickets to provide the correct food items.
Load trays onto delivery carts.
Remove soiled serving trays from patient units and bus patient and customer serving trays.
Operate the elevator to deliver and pick up carts at patient care units and outpatient clinics.
Take food service supplies to patient rooms and outpatient clinics as needed.
Deliver meals to patients’ bedsides and assist with needs, concerns, and requests.
Use portable telephones to communicate and ensure patients’ needs are met.
Operate the mechanical dishwasher, clean equipment and kitchen areas, and unload food from delivery carts.
Clean and sanitize metal ware, cooking pots, pans, utensils, and serving ware.
Prepare simple foods such as sandwiches and salads when asked.
Maintain records such as tray delivery and pickup schedules.
