About The Position

In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Food Service Worker performs routine food service tasks, including assembling and cleaning up patient food trays and preparing simple foods and nourishment. The role assists with food and beverage service at special functions; sweeps, mops, and removes garbage; delivers and retrieves patient food tray carts to and from nursing units; washes pots and pans; and serves food and operates the cash register in the cafeteria. The employee exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and maintains strict confidentiality.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent training and/or experience.
• Ability to read, write, and do math, as generally demonstrated by a high school diploma or GED.
• Ability to read, write, and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Manual dexterity.
• Ability to lift 30 pounds and walk or stand for most of the work shift.

Responsibilities

• Perform all work in a safe and sanitary manner.
• Complete tasks carefully, paying attention to detail and meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
• Fill floor stock orders accurately and on time, ensuring someone from the receiving department is informed and has an opportunity to ask questions.
• Perform dishwashing safely, sanitarily, and efficiently, and use equipment properly.
• Serve customers courteously, helpfully, and efficiently.
• Maintain a neat, clean, and clutter-free café.
• Keep needed food and supplies well stocked.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
• Assemble and clean up patient food trays and prepare simple foods and nourishment.
• Assist with food and beverage service at special functions.
• Sweep, mop, and remove garbage.
• Deliver and retrieve patient food tray carts to and from nursing units.
• Wash pots and pans.
• Serve food and operate the cafeteria cash register.
