FOOD SERVICE WORKER/CASHIER (FULL TIME)
About The Position
The Food Service Worker/Cashier performs cashiering duties and general food service work while maintaining sanitation standards in food preparation, service, and dining areas. The role prepares and handles ingredients, transports and stores food safely, cleans work areas and equipment, and follows approved recipes and production standards to ensure quality, temperature, and portion control. It also provides friendly customer service, handles transactions and payments accurately, maintains cash funds, and replenishes service-area supplies. The position is full-time at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama, with AM shifts scheduled from 6:00 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.; workdays may vary. The listed pay range is $15.00 to $16.00 per hour.
Requirements
- Previous customer service and food service experience is preferred; training is available.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities
- Perform cashiering duties and general food service work.
- Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables; weigh and measure designated ingredients.
- Carry food pans, kettles, and trays between workstations, stoves, and refrigerators in accordance with safety standards.
- Distribute supplies, utensils, and portable equipment.
- Store foods in designated areas using appropriate wrapping, dating, food-safety, and rotation procedures.
- Clean work areas, equipment, and utensils, and ensure compliance with sanitation and safety requirements.
- Follow approved food recipes and production standards to maintain quality, serving temperatures, and portion control.
- Serve customers in a friendly and efficient manner and resolve complaints in a service-oriented way.
- Relay relevant information to the supervisor.
- Perform sales transactions, accurately record purchases in the cash register, make change, accept approved payment methods, and issue receipts.
- Follow standard procedures for cash refunds and manage assigned change funds and cash receipts in accordance with overage and shortage standards.
- Replenish condiments, beverages, and general supplies while keeping the service area clean.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
