FOOD SERVICE UTILITY (FULL AND PART TIME)
About The Position
The Food Service Utility maintains kitchen work areas and keeps equipment and utensils clean and orderly at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut. The position is offered in full-time and part-time formats, with open availability and shifts that may vary. Weekend work is required. Prior back-of-house and dishroom experience is preferred. The fixed pay rate is $16.94 per hour. The role includes cleaning and sanitizing work areas, moving supplies and equipment, and helping with front-of-house and banquet setup. The employer notes that work may be reduced or paused during educational breaks, potentially resulting in unpaid temporary layoffs; depending on business needs, associates may instead be required to work year-round, possibly at another location during break periods.
Requirements
- Prior back-of-house and dishroom experience is preferred, but not required.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Weekend availability is required.

Responsibilities
- Sweep and mop floors to comply with safety and sanitation standards.
- Wash worktables, walls, refrigerators, meat blocks, and other food preparation surfaces.
- Remove trash and place it in designated containers; steam-clean or hose out garbage cans.
- Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas.
- Assist with banquet table and front-of-house setup.
- Assist with loading or unloading and delivering supplies and products.
- Distribute supplies, utensils, and portable equipment as needed.
- Comply with outlined sanitation and safety requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
