About The Position

Alpha Public Schools is a public charter school network of four schools educating approximately 1,900 scholars in east San Jose. Guided by the belief that our students belong in college, we ensure safe, inclusive, and student-centered learning environments to help our students thrive. Alpha was founded by a group of mothers on the eastside of San Jose who sought better educational opportunities for their students. We maintain a strong connection to our community and engage families in a collaborative approach to offer a holistic education to our students. A successful Food Services Support Team Member will help ensure that our students have access to nutritious meals so they can thrive. You will ensure that our students have a clean and orderly place to eat, and will be responsible for preparation and distribution of student meals. Successful candidates will demonstrate a growth mindset, a commitment to exceptional service, and strong alignment with our mission. Requirements

• Current Food Handler’s Permit Required (Alpha will cover costs if needed)

Responsibilities

• Student Lunch set up/take down, including removing food from warmers and refrigerators, proper placement of food items on serving table, and taking food temperatures
• Mealtime processing: making sure students punch in their correct pin codes and that all students who take a lunch are accounted for
• Ensuring students take a compliant lunch: including one entrée, one fruit or vegetable, and one beverage
• Notifying other staff when issues arrive (student behavior issues, missing pin codes, students not cleaning tables properly, etc.)
• Collecting trash from student tables, and ensuring trash is placed in dumpsters
• Cleaning cafeteria daily at the end of the shift: sweeping/dusting floors, ensuring tables are clean, trash is out, and everything is put away
