Food Service Supervisor
About The Position
The Food Service Supervisor works onsite inside the Steuben County Jail, overseeing inmate labor and team members who assist with food service operations. The role includes preparing and serving a variety of food items according to assigned instructions, menus, recipes, and department procedures, while using food preparation utensils and equipment. The supervisor reports to the Food Service Director and helps maintain a healthy and safe work environment. The position requires working on your feet for much of the scheduled shift and may involve lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, and walking.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Ability to perform physical activities including lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to be on your feet for much of the scheduled shift.

Responsibilities
- Manage inmate labor and team members in the kitchen during food preparation and food service shifts.
- Serve food during planned meal schedules according to department procedures.
- Use kitchen utensils and equipment to cook food according to recipes.
- Use appropriate utensils to serve menu portions that meet clients’ nutritional needs.
- Train other food service workers.
- Promote a healthy and safe work environment for employees and inmates.
- Perform other responsibilities as determined by the employer.
