About The Position

The Food Service Operations Rep assembles, prepares, serves, and delivers trays, meals, and nourishments to patients, hospital floors, and other customers or clients. The role responds to food-service and related requests from patients, nursing staff, and other customers in a friendly, cheerful, patient, and customer-focused manner. The position also collects trays and other items for transport to Food Service and helps sanitize the department, including pots, the dish room, trash areas, and floors, as well as completing special cleaning assignments. Other duties may be assigned.

This is a part-time evening position at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland. The scheduled shift is 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with every other weekend rotation.

Requirements

• Must have or be pursuing a high school diploma or equivalent, or have four years of work-related experience.
• Ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and courteously by telephone, in person, or in writing.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple and moderately complex instructions, correspondence, and memos in English.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic functions.
• Ability to use common sense when carrying out written and oral instructions and solving problems.
• Ability to use kitchen, trayline, and warewashing equipment.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to speak and communicate in Spanish is desired.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, prepare, serve, and deliver trays, meals, and nourishments to patients, floors, and other customers or clients.
• Attend to patient, nursing, and other customer food-service and related requests, needs, or requirements in a friendly, cheerful, patient, and customer-focused manner.
• Collect trays and other items for transport to Food Service.
• Assist with sanitation throughout the department, including pots, the dish room, trash, floors, and special cleaning assignments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
