About The Position
The Food Service Associate is a member of Glens Falls Hospital’s patient care team who serves food while helping provide comfort and nutrition to patients. The role involves interacting directly with patients, taking menu selections at the bedside, and delivering meals. Associates also assemble patient trays using a computerized ticket system, serve customers in the cafeteria, manage food inventory, and assist with special hospital events. Paid training is provided.
Requirements
- Ability to read, write, and understand English.
- Basic computation skills for cashiering.
- A warm personality and ability to connect with patients, guests, and coworkers.
- Ability to learn general nutrition principles and special patient diet modifications within 7–10 days.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred but not required.
- Customer service or food service experience is a plus but not required.
Responsibilities
- Take menu selections directly at patients’ bedsides and deliver meals.
- Assemble accurate patient food trays using a computerized ticket system.
- Set up cafeteria food stations, serve customers using proper food-handling practices, and process cashier transactions.
- Organize and rotate products and maintain stock levels in daily refrigerator and unit-floor spaces.
- Help set up, decorate, and cater special hospital-themed and holiday events.
