About The Position

This role is responsible for properly, efficiently, and in a timely manner delivering food orders for Barefoot's servers and bartenders. The position involves maintaining the expeditor line, stocking condiments and serving baskets, switching between day and dinner menu items, and ensuring accurate and organized food delivery to tables or the bar. The Food Runner/Expeditor also communicates with the expeditor, relays guest information to servers, and maintains cleanliness of the expeditor area. Supportive functions include general cleaning, rolling silverware, and assisting with table clearing and resetting.

Requirements

  • Must have basic knowledge of food preparation.
  • Basic organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and speak the English language sufficient to understand menus and special promotions and communicate with guests.
  • Ability to learn and understand the MICROS Point of Sale computer system.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand and work continually in confined spaces.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 5 pounds and a maximum of 30 pounds.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity in the hands to use a knife to make garnishes and reach overhead to retrieve stock.
  • Ability to remember, recite, and promote menu items.
  • Ability to work effectively in direct sunlight or in kitchen with temperatures exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Ability to effectively deal with and resolve conflict situations with co-workers or dissatisfied guests.
  • Ability to walk to and from the restaurant to the kitchen on a continual basis.
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities.
  • Ability to obtain any government required licenses or certificates.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma preferred.
  • Prior basic food knowledge and culinary related skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains proper and adequate set up of the expeditor line, including the stocking of all condiments, plastic silverware, and serving baskets based on the projection of business for the day.
  • Switches out the daytime condiments and related items and replaces with the dinner menu items.
  • Runs food orders properly, efficiently, and in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to identify incorrect or specialty menu items.
  • Must organize the tray of the menu items to be delivered to the tables or bar.
  • Maintains constant line of communication with the expeditor.
  • Must properly deliver all items to the proper table numbers.
  • Relays information from guests to server when needed.
  • Cleans and maintains the expeditor area including all counters and floor.
  • Assists with clearing and resetting tables.
  • Performs general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products, as assigned by supervisor, to adhere to health standards.
  • Rolls silverware and lines baskets for all meal periods throughout the day to maintain an adequate supply.
  • Performs other duties as requested, such as cleaning unexpected spills or special guest requests, to ensure total guest satisfaction.
