About The Position

Clovis Community College is seeking to establish a part-time faculty pool for Food/Nutrition Instructor positions. This role involves teaching nutrition courses and contributing to the educational environment.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in nutrition, dietetics or dietetics and food administration; OR Bachelor’s degree in any of the above AND Master’s degree in chemistry, public health or family and consumer studies/home economics; OR A valid California Community College Credential; OR The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency).
  • Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree and certification as a registered dietitian
  • Breadth of teaching experience in nutrition
  • Experience teaching at the post-secondary level
  • Experience working with or administering nutrition programs
  • Experience in identifying and re-mediating knowledge and skills deficiencies
  • Experience with educational technology (computer, interactive video, smart podia, etc.)
  • Certificate to teach in an on-line or hybrid environment
  • Experience working with students of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Related work and professional experience
  • Knowledge of student success models/orientation programs designed to improve student success and retention
  • Recent experience working with African American, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students in the classroom and an understanding of how historical patterns of exclusions of these groups in higher education shape patterns of participation and outcomes
  • Willingness to examine and re-mediate one’s instructional, relational, and classroom practices to more effectively engage and support racially minoritized students
  • Experience and skill with addressing issues of equity in the classroom
  • Potential for contribution to institutional vitality and growth
  • Knowledge of the community college and its mission and goals
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students and staff
  • A bachelors in nutrition, dietetics, or dietetics and food administration, and certification as a registered dietitian
