Fluids Analyst II, Combustion Devices

Relativity Space•Long Beach, CA

About The Position

The Fluids Analyst II will contribute to the design and qualification of combustion-device hardware—including injectors, thrust chambers, heat exchangers, and igniters—through computational fluid dynamics analysis. The role involves reviewing test and flight data to evaluate and anchor models, collaborating with hardware designers, and applying thermofluid expertise to inform design decisions. The analyst will also develop and recommend analysis approaches that may reduce design iteration time. The position is part of the Propulsion team, which develops and delivers performant, manufacturable engines for Terran R across the lifecycle from initial design through production, qualification, and flight.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering field.
  • At least 2 years of experience performing computational fluid dynamics analyses; employment, internships, and project experience count.
  • Familiarity with typical analysis steps, including pre- and post-processing, meshing, and setting boundary conditions.
  • Experience with basic engineering scripting in Python, MATLAB, or similar.
  • Strong background in fluid mechanics and heat transfer.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate degree in a science or engineering field.
  • Experience with Siemens STAR-CCM+.
  • Working knowledge of rocket engine subsystems, such as combustion devices.
  • Prior aerospace experience is not required.

Responsibilities
